Ivan O. Amaya, 35, passed away suddenly on June 15, 2018 in Plainfield.

Ivan was a lifelong resident of The Plainfields. He was born in Plainfield, and he resided in both North and South Plainfield. Ivan graduated from North Plainfield Adult High School in 2002.

He worked as a Mason with Sahara Masonry for many years and went on to work as a facilities technician for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.

Ivan was a dedicated San Francisco 49ers and New York Yankees fan who enjoyed attending and watching games with family and friends. He was a devoted uncle who adored his niece and nephew and centered his life around his family. He was known for his sense of humor and big heart; he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Surviving Ivan are his mother Sandra and husband Marcos, his father Artemio and wife Ana, his siblings Denis and Sandra, his precious niece Mia and cherished nephew Caden, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00PM and Thursday, June 21st from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 516 West 6th Street, Plainfield. Family and friends are welcome to gather beginning at 9:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
