Ronald “Ronnie” Martz, 63, of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2016 at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Born and raised in McConnellsburg, PA to William Martz and Shirley Stewart, he was a former resident of Plainfield before recently settling in South Plainfield.
Ronnie enjoyed Rail-Fanning, and turned his passion for the railroad into a career as a Train Engineer with ConRail. He operated engine 5637 and was devoted to his job for over 40 years where he created life-long friendships and a legacy with ConRail.
Ronnie was an avid NASCAR fan, who was known for his Hawaiian shirts and affectionately referred to as “Flyin’ Hawaiian”. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, the science of how things work, ancient astronaut theory, and Nibiru.
He was a loving family man with a great sense of humor, who above all enjoyed the quality time spent with his cherished family.
Surviving are his loving wife, Jane Chenard Martz, his dear children and step children, Christine Martz, Curtiz Martz, Kevin Fallon, and Christopher Wallace (C.J.), and his fur-babies, as well as many brothers, sisters, extended family, his railroad family, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29th 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield.
Memorial contributions will be accepted by his family at the funeral home.
