Manahawkin - Joan (nee Moorhouse) Keelan, 88, of South Plainfield, N.J., passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at Brookdale Stafford in Manahawkin.
Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., Joan was the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Roper) Moorhouse. She married the love of her life, Robert J. Keelan on June 18, 1949 and together they raised their family in South Plainfield. Joan settled to Manahawkin several years ago.
In addition to being a homemaker and mother, Joan was a Supervisor at Sears Roebuck in Watchung, NJ for 20 years and retired in 1987. She was also a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish in South Plainfield.
An avid reader who enjoyed crocheting, Joan also enjoyed the Jersey shore and travelling with her late husband, Bob and good friends.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert; dear brother, Henry “Hank” Moorhouse and her son, Robert “Bobby” Alan Keelan; surviving is her devoted daughter, Lynn (Keelan) Reed and husband Andrew “Andy” of South Plainfield and cherished grandchildren, Lauren (Reed) Clark and husband Jason of Humble, Texas and Christopher Reed of Hoboken, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10AM. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Family and friends may gather before the mass in McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 at 8:30AM.
