Obituary for William Ronald Collins

William Ronald Collins, 88, of Middlesex, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick.

Born in Kingsport, TN to the late William George and Grace Blanche Collins, Mr. Collins was a graduate of Rahway High School class of 1949. He later earned an Associates Degree in Engineering from Union Junior College.

Mr. Collins proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He went on to marry his beloved wife Phillis DeMarco in 1952 and settled in Dunellen where they raised their family. He was later a resident of Far Hills before moving to Middlesex sixteen years ago.

Mr. Collins was an Engineer with the former NJ Bell (Bell Atlantic) in Piscataway for 33 years.

Mr. Collins was a former Councilman and Council President for the townships of Dunellen and Far Hills, as well as a member of the Dunellen Rescue Squad and a coach in the Dunellen Little League. He served as the Chairman of the Dunellen Police Committee and was presented with the Silver Life Card for his years of service to the community. Mr. Collins was a member of the Knights of Columbus 2544 of Dunellen, and a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Mr. Collins was a communicant of St. Luke’s R.C. Church in North Plainfield where he and his wife served as Extra Ordinary Ministers.

Surviving are his beloved wife Phillis Collins, his loving children SueAnn Collins-McHugh and husband Gary, and David William Collins and wife Melissa, and his cherished grandchildren, Katelyn(Albert), Gabriel, Jacqueline, and Brian.

Funeral services were held privately under the direction of the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex.
